Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – The opposition in the Hessian state parliament has demanded significantly more funds and initiatives for the rural regions of Hesse from the black-green coalition. For equal living conditions, the municipalities would have to be better equipped financially, demanded members of the SPD, FDP and Left Party parliamentary groups on Thursday in Parliament in Wiesbaden. There are deficits, for example, in mobility and the connection to local public transport, health care, digitization and the relocation of authorities and educational institutions.
The State Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing, Jens Deutschendorf (Greens), on the other hand, referred to numerous initiatives by the state government for people in rural areas. With the “Strong Country – Good Life” action plan, more than 1.2 billion euros would be invested in the rural areas of Hesse every year.
