Hofheim am Taunus (dpa/lhe) – In view of the rush for 9-euro tickets for local public transport, passengers, especially in leisure and excursion traffic, have to be prepared for full buses and trains this summer. The company announced on Tuesday in Hofheim am Taunus that more than 300,000 cheap tickets were sold in the first week via the ticket machines and sales offices of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) alone.

“We are overwhelmed by the great demand and look forward to many new customers from the entire network area,” explained RMV Managing Director Knut Ringat. However, the keen interest in the 9-euro tickets also means that one or the other trip is likely to be tight. “Especially in excursion traffic, you’re doing yourself and everyone else a favor if you stay relaxed and, if in doubt, wait for the next trip,” recommended Ringat.

Since capacities can only be expanded to a limited extent, customers should avoid traffic peaks if possible. On weekends and public holidays in June, July and August, RMV recommends departing early in the morning and returning late in the evening. The 9-euro tickets are valid during these three months.
