Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – Because a body was found in an S-Bahn tunnel near Frankfurt, one of the most important railway lines in the Rhine-Main area was closed on Friday. Thousands of commuters were waiting at the train stations in the morning rush hour. There were delays, diversions and cancellations, as reported by the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV).
According to the federal police, a dead man was discovered on the tracks between the “Kaiserlei” and “Mühlberg” stations shortly after 7 a.m. It was initially unclear whether it was a suicide. According to RMV, the S-Bahn lines S1 to S6, S8, S9 and the regional connections RE50, RB51 and RE55 were affected by the closure.
Among other things, the route connects the state capital of Wiesbaden in the west with the cities of Frankfurt and Hanau in the east.
