Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – In the past week, Hessian police officers have searched 59 apartments nationwide in the fight against sexual abuse of children and young people. As the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced on Tuesday in Wiesbaden, a total of 63 men and women are being investigated. They are said to have sexually abused minors or possessed or distributed images and videos showing such acts.
According to the current status of the investigation, the 63 suspects are not in contact with each other, as the LKA announced. Among other things, 75 smartphones, 40 computers and laptops and 48 USB sticks were seized.
During the priority measure from Monday to Friday, the investigators from the “BAO Focus” unit were supported by a total of 218 police officers.
The “BAO Focus” unit deals exclusively with sexual offenses against children and young people. According to the information, more than 300 employees work for her, of which around 190 are investigators.
The operations took place in the cities of Frankfurt am Main, Gießen, Hanau, Offenbach am Main and in the districts of Gießen, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Wetteraukreis, Kassel, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Schwalm-Eder-Kreis and Werra-Meißner -Kreis, Fulda, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Bergstraße, Groß-Gerau, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Offenbach, Main-Taunus-Kreis, Hochtaunus-Kreis and Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis.
