Stralsund (dpa/mv) – The company Steamergy Stralsund GmbH has signed a corresponding contract for the use of areas on the former shipyard of MV-Werften in Stralsund as the fifth tenant. The city of Stralsund announced on Tuesday that the company will use a hall and office space on the grounds of the Volkswerft maritime industrial and commercial park from October.
In Stralsund, the company wants to dedicate itself in particular to the development and production of alternative propulsion systems for ships. This is why the company is a subsidiary of Steamergy GmbH
The city had taken over the shipyard site after the insolvency of MV shipyards in order to develop a maritime business park. According to the city, the metal processor Ostseestaal, the Norwegian shipbuilder Fosen Yard, the wind turbine manufacturer German Sustainables and the Stralsund seaport had previously signed lease agreements.
