Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – SV Wehen Wiesbaden has climbed to third place in the table in the 3rd football league. Coach Markus Kauczinski’s team beat promoted Rot-Weiss Essen 3-1 (1-0) on Sunday. In the first competitive game between the two clubs, Ivan Prtajin (45th and 73rd minutes) and Ahmet Gürleyen (76th) scored the goals for the hosts. In between, Andreas Wiegel (52nd) equalized to make it 1-1 when he tipped the ball out of the hands of SVWW keeper Florian Stritzel, causing violent protests from the Wiesbaden team. After the successful start of an intense phase with nine games in six weeks, the SVWW now has 18 points.
