Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – Users of bus and train in Hesse must be prepared for considerable restrictions this Friday due to Verdi’s warning strikes. According to the union, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Kassel will also be affected by the nationwide campaign. The warning strike at the Frankfurter Verkehrsbetriebe VGF, the Wiesbaden bus operator ESWE-Verkehr and the Kasseler Verkehrsgesellschaft should start with the start of the timetable and last until the end of the timetable, Verdi announced on Tuesday in Frankfurt.
The action is to take place together with the climate activists from Fridays for Future, who are calling for a global climate strike on Friday. In Hesse, larger rallies are planned in Frankfurt and Kassel. According to Verdi, it wants to be involved in this. The union wants to increase the pressure in collective bargaining for the local and federal public service.
In the negotiations for the approximately 2.5 million federal and local employees, the Verdi union and the civil servants’ association dbb are demanding 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more per month. No agreement was reached in the second round of negotiations last week. The unions had rejected an offer from the employers as insufficient.
