Malchin (dpa / mv) – A forgotten cooking pot on a stove that was switched on has led to a fire in an apartment building in Malchin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district). A breath alcohol test of the 34-year-old resident of the fire apartment showed a value of 1 per mille, as the police announced on Sunday. On Friday, the contents of the pot caught fire and then spread throughout the apartment. All residents of the house were evacuated for the extinguishing. Except for the fire apartment, all apartments were habitable again. A 13-year-old girl received medical care at the scene. The 34-year-old is being investigated for negligent arson.
