Stralsund (dpa/mv) – Decorated and luminous tractors are intended to spread the Christmas spirit during a parade through Stralsund. This year’s tractor Christmas parade is scheduled to go around the city center on Friday evening (6:30 p.m.). In addition to the agricultural machinery, an old fire brigade is also expected, said organizer Mathias Zeitke. The farmer says he is organizing the parade for the third time. He brought the idea from Canada, where he lived for 15 years. Christmas is heralded there on the first weekend in December with a similar parade. Zeitke said of his motivation: “The radiance of children’s eyes – that’s just crazy.” There are now such parades elsewhere in the north and also in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
