Schwerin (dpa / mv) – Despite the sale of the cruise ship “Global Dream” to the Disney group, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania could be left with a high level of damage. “The possible state damage is in a significant three-digit million amount,” said the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Schwerin on Tuesday. However, it is not yet clear how the remaining loan collateral will be valued, which could still reduce the amount.
Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) had already acknowledged existing risks when announcing the sale of the ship, also known under the name “Global One”, from the insolvent MV shipyard group. The state government has taken over guarantees for the construction of the ship, in the worst case it could cost up to 301 million euros.
