Greifswald (dpa/mv) – A drunk driver demolished several other cars in Greifswald at night and brought the police to his lane with a lost number plate. The 36-year-old lost one of his license plates in the collision, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday morning. A local resident was woken up by the impact noise in the southern mill suburb and called the officials. The police drove to the 36-year-old Greifswalder with the license plate data and had him blown into a breath alcohol meter. The device showed more than two per thousand.
Officers seized his driver’s license. The man now had to pay for the property damage, which was estimated at 28,000 euros, and be responsible for road traffic hazards and hit-and-run accidents.
