Neubrandenburg/Greifswald (dpa/mv) – The Neubrandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) wants to help remedy the shortage of workers in companies with a “homecoming day” at two locations. Around 70 companies and other employers are expecting interested parties in Greifswald and Neubrandenburg on December 27, as a spokesman for the IHK said in Neubrandenburg on Tuesday. “The chances of finding new and interesting professional perspectives here have never been as good as they are today,” said the chamber’s general manager, Torsten Haasch. The “Returning Days” take place in the House of Culture and Education in the center of Neubrandenburg and in the Kulturbahnhof Greifswald.
The initiative, which had been paused because of Corona, was deliberately put on the period between Christmas and New Year, since many young women and men who had once emigrated were back at home with relatives for the holidays. Interested parties can also expect help in finding day-care places, apartments and other matters. The initiative is supported by municipalities, the state and the EU.
In addition to the current high energy prices, a lack of young people and workers is one of the main problems faced by companies in the north-east. The chamber represents the interests of around 25,000 companies in the eastern half of MV.
