Schwerin (dpa / mv) – People in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania buy less due to high inflation and fear of exploding heating costs. Price-adjusted retail sales in the Northeast fell 4.7 percent in June compared to June 2021. This is according to data released by the country’s statistical office on Monday. The minus in the food retail trade was 1.9 percent, in the rest of the retail trade 7.4 percent. Nationwide, real sales in June were even 8.8 percent below the previous year’s level.

A rapid improvement in the buying mood is not to be expected. According to a survey by the German Retail Association (HDE), people in the Federal Republic are currently more reluctant to make purchases and purchases than they have been for a long time. The association summarized the results of its monthly consumption barometer at the beginning of August that consumer sentiment is also expected to be weak in the next three months.
