Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – Because he is said to have killed his wife and then caused a gas explosion in the house, the 65-year-old husband is on trial today (2 p.m.). The public prosecutor accuses him of manslaughter. A verdict is expected on August 9th.
According to the indictment, the man is said to have suffocated his wife on December 6 in the bedroom of the house they shared. Then he triggered a gas explosion in the bedroom with a gas bottle and a candle. The detonation blew a window out of its frame, but there was no open fire. The 65-year-old suffered severe burns. The motive has so far remained unclear.
