Ahlbeck (dpa/mv) – A man is said to have thrown gravel at a train on Usedom and damaged it as a result. No one was injured, a spokesman for the federal police said on Thursday. Prior to Tuesday night’s incident, train staff had the 21-year-old suspect off the train because he had a bottle with a broken neck and wanted to board the train with him. After the crime, the man from Eberswalde (Barnim district) drove on to Heringsdorf in a different way, where he was recognized by officials and arrested.

During the police check, the suspect behaved aggressively several times and rioted in custody, so that an ambulance and rescue workers had to be called. Ultimately, the suspect was admitted to a clinic.

The train had to be taken out of service and replaced because of the damage to the windscreen and destroyed side windows.
