Schwerin (dpa/mv) – From the point of view of the state government in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the regulations for the gas price brake are basically correct, but should be improved. Deputy Prime Minister Simone Oldenburg (left) said on Thursday: “We would like the price brake to come sooner, even if that poses major organizational challenges for energy suppliers.” If that is not possible, the gap from the advance payment in December to March must be closed, said the Minister of Education after an information event with representatives of municipalities, associations and the energy industry, among others.
Member of the Bundestag Matthias Miersch (SPD), who was one of three representatives from the Bundestag as an advisory member of the commission, reported on the results and outstanding issues in two video channels. The gas price commission set up by the federal government had proposed initially relieving gas and district heating customers with a one-off payment in December. This should serve as a bridge until the start of the regular gas price brake in March, which should apply until at least April 2024.
