Schwerin (dpa/mv) – A new ZDF evening series is being shot in Schwerin. The series with the working title “Welcome to the Hotel Mondial” is to include twelve episodes, as the city marketing of the state capital announced on Wednesday. These are to be broadcast on Wednesdays at 7:25 p.m. next winter. According to the information, there is also filming in Geesthacht near Hamburg.
About the content: The young Lara (Joy Ewulu) is looking for traces of her past and has accepted a job at the Hotel Mondial. She wants to know more about that fateful time when she was snatched away from her birth mother in this hotel.
Producer Johannes Pollmann explained that Schwerin convinced the production company above all with the beauty of the city with the lakes, the castle and the enchanting old town. “At the same time, we see Schwerin as a lively, modern German city with all its facets.” Her charm, still fresh in the media, offers an ideal basis for the cosmos of the series.
Antje Naß from the Film Commission MV, which supports production companies in the search for locations, among other things, explained: “After a long time, a series is finally coming to Schwerin again. We are pleased that the intensive joint preparatory work with Schwerin City Marketing is now bearing fruit and our state capital will become a location for filming and action.”
Katharina Lawrenz from Stadtmarklung expects the series to be a tourist advertisement. “The beautiful pictures will help to make Schwerin better known throughout Germany and will positively influence interest in the city both as a city trip destination and as a location in the long term,” she said.
