Hagenow (dpa / mv) – An attentive groundskeeper and robotic lawnmower with a positioning system let thieves fly in Hagenow (Ludwigslust-Parchim). As a police spokesman said on Thursday, the incident happened on Wednesday at a sports field. There, the perpetrators had already loaded one of the two machines into a car when the groundskeeper saw this. The other device had been placed in a hiding place. The thieves fled, apparently not reckoning with the modern GPS robot tracking system.
The suspected thieves’ car was found in Hagenow and confiscated along with loot hidden nearby. The thieves fled on foot. The search is still ongoing. The car owner later contacted the police about his car. He, a 30-year-old suspect, is now being investigated for theft. Such modern mowers are usually traded for more than 2000 euros.
