Rostock (dpa/mv) – Due to doubts about their loyalty to the constitution, there were searches of five police officers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Tuesday morning. The aim was to secure evidence such as data carriers, said a spokeswoman for the Rostock police headquarters on Wednesday. The further measures result from the evaluation. The “Schweriner Volkszeitung” and the broadcaster NDR had previously reported.
According to the information, the searches affected three officers from the Rostock police headquarters and two from the water police. Disciplinary proceedings have been opened, and the management of the respective authorities has already issued a “ban on conducting official business” against three of the accused.
The investigators became aware of the five police officers in the course of the investigation into the right-wing extremist prepper network “Nordkreuz”. This network was suspected of preparing for the collapse of the social order that its members feared by hoarding weapons and ammunition, among other things.
