Friedland (dpa / mv) – In a head-on collision between a car and a police patrol car near Friedland (Mecklenburg Lake District), three people were injured. As a police spokeswoman said on Friday, the 37-year-old driver on Landesstraße 237 suddenly got into the oncoming lane on which the police car was driving. Both cars were totaled, the amount of which was estimated at around 35,000 euros.
Since the 37-year-old was found to have a breath alcohol level of 0.3 per mille and a drug test was positive, the police took the man’s driver’s license away. All three injured were taken to a clinic, which a police officer was later able to leave. The driver is being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. It is still unclear why the 37-year-old had driven the car into the oncoming lane shortly before Friedland.
