Göhren (dpa / mv) – Göhren on Rügen wants to break new ground in the agreement of different interests in its development. According to the municipal administration, the interests of local people should be given greater consideration. As the first community in the north-east, a so-called living space concept will be created with the participation of as many people as possible, community representative Nadine Förster announced on Tuesday. Such a concept “takes up all the important topics relating to the living space of a community in order to ensure holistic and sustainable development,” it said.
In the past there have been repeated disputes in the Baltic Sea resort, for example because of real estate projects. A citizens’ initiative was founded because they saw nature in danger. For her commitment to the initiative, Förster was honored by the state government as “Woman of the Year 2022”. The documentary “Who owns my village?” drew attention to Göhren in cinemas nationwide.
According to the announcement, the start of the concept was preceded by the receipt of funding. The public participation should last about six months. Those affected are invited to a kick-off event on November 21 in Göhren. In addition, interest groups have already been defined, for example for tourism professionals, owners, senior citizens or children. These are to define the initial priorities for the concept in discussions. Those interested should contact the mayor or the Mönchgut-Granitz office directly.
