Rostock (dpa / mv) – Basketball should be given greater importance in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania than before. Education Minister Simone Oldenburg and Tamás Ignácz, Vice President of the Basketball Association (BVMV), signed a cooperation agreement in Rostock on Monday. Oldenburg, who in her speech also referred to the rise of the Rostock Seawolves to the BBL, emphasized: “With the new cooperation we are sending a strong signal for successful cooperation between school and sports associations. The sports offers for schoolchildren are being strengthened and at the same time there are young athletes.”

Ignácz added that in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, apart from the Seawolves, there are often only smaller basketball teams. “We want to support these teams in intensifying the cooperation between schools, clubs and players.” According to Oldenburg, a school and association sports developer will be used for the implementation.
