Suckow/Hagenow (dpa/mv) – Two cyclists were critically injured in two accidents in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As police spokesman said, the traffic accidents occurred on Sunday afternoon near Suckow (Mecklenburg Lake District) and in Hagenow (Ludwigslust-Parchim).

In Hagenow, a driver’s vehicle caught a 72-year-old cyclist crossing a road on a cycle path. The 72-year-old suffered life-threatening head injuries and was taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter. The 65-year-old driver suffered a shock. The cause of the accident is still being clarified. The property damage was estimated at several thousand euros.

Near Suckow, a 78-year-old e-cyclist fell almost at the same time on a section with a steep incline on a cycle path. The man from the Röbel region is also in mortal danger. He was taken to a hospital by helicopter. It is not yet clear why the pensioner fell with the e-bike on the paved bike path.
