Essen (dpa / lnw) – The new coach Daniel Farke won on his debut on the bench of the Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Gladbachers won 4-2 (3-1) on Friday at third-division promoted Rot-Weiss Essen.

The man in the first half was striker Marcus Thuram, who scored two goals (11’/41′) and won the penalty converted by Alassane Plea to make it 2-0 (22′). At the break, Farke made a complete change and took the only new signing of this transfer phase, Oscar Fraulo, off the field. After Cedric Harenbrock (25′) and Simon Engelmann (49′) scored for Essen, Essen’s Meiko Sponsel, on loan from Cologne, scored an own goal (59′).
