Rheurdt (dpa / lnw) – After the serious accident with three dead people on the Lower Rhine, the police in Kleve are investigating. The two vehicles involved – a car and a tractor – were secured, said a police spokeswoman in Kleve on Tuesday. Three people were killed when a car crashed into a tree on Monday afternoon. The driver, a child and an infant in the car succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Another passenger was seriously injured and was taken to a special clinic. The tractor driver was not injured.
It was raining heavily at the time of the accident. The accident car was torn in two in the collision. According to the police, the road in the rural region is free again on Tuesday. According to initial findings, the investigators assume that the car at Rheurdt-Schaephuysen wanted to overtake a tractor and went off the road for an unknown reason. “An unimaginable picture of what the emergency services offer,” said a police spokeswoman after the accident.
