Cologne (dpa / lnw) – When two trailer trucks collided on the A4 near Cologne, one of the drivers was seriously injured. According to initial findings by the police, the vehicle of a 28-year-old driver left the road to the right on Monday and crashed into a second trailer truck on the hard shoulder. The 28-year-old was trapped and suffered serious injuries, rescue workers freed him from his collapsed driver’s cab, the police said. The 52-year-old driver of the vehicle, which was probably standing at the time of the accident, was slightly injured.
According to the police’s current knowledge, it is still unclear why the two trucks collided on Monday morning. A rescue helicopter was also deployed. Traffic was diverted to one lane at the scene of the accident. Further investigations are ongoing.
