Erftstadt (dpa / lnw) – Another ATM has been blown up in North Rhine-Westphalia. At around 2.30 a.m. on Friday night, there was an explosion at an ATM in a Sparkasse branch in Erftstadt (Rhein-Erft district). A police spokesman said on Friday morning that the emergency services who quickly arrived at the scene saw the devastation. Witnesses observed how several people fled the scene in a large, dark limousine after the detonation. It was initially unclear whether the perpetrators stole money.
Debris and panes of glass were lying around, and the front door of the bank had been torn from its moorings. Even a window on the other side of the building broke out, reported the “Rhein-Erft Rundschau”. However, the building is not in danger of collapsing. The crime scene was cordoned off. The criminal police secured evidence and began the investigation.
