Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – Two suspects have been taken into custody after attempted homicides in a hotel and in a residential building in Dortmund. A 22-year-old woman was being investigated for attempted murder and a 29-year-old man for attempted manslaughter, the public prosecutor said on Monday. There is no connection between the two cases, but they happened almost simultaneously on Sunday night.

A 58-year-old man collapsed in a hotel lobby, bleeding profusely, shortly afterwards the 22-year-old was arrested without resistance with a knife in his hand. Hotel guests provided first aid until the arrival of the emergency doctor, after treatment in a clinic the victim was out of danger. The man and the attacker knew each other, but not closer and had an appointment in the hotel, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office.

The suspect stated that he had no memory of the specific crime. There are no indications that it was in the direction of self-defense.

The investigators assume that the 29-year-old man stabbed a 25-year-old visitor with a sharp object during an argument. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was quickly out of danger. The alleged perpetrator is accused of attempted manslaughter.
