Cologne (dpa / lnw) – The Cologne public prosecutor’s office has accused a babysitter of child abuse. He is accused of a total of 37 offenses, including serious sexual abuse, rape and possession and production of child pornography. According to the indictment, the 22 victims were between one and a half and seven years old, as a spokesman for the Cologne district court said on Friday. A daycare center, family apartments and his own apartment in Cologne-Zollstock were named as suspected crime scenes.

The 34-year-old was arrested last June. He is said to have offered himself as a babysitter via an Internet platform and thus came into contact with victims. He also worked through a company as a part-time caregiver in day-care centers.

The public prosecutor wants to apply for preventive detention for the accused. A trial date has not yet been set. The WDR and the “Kölnische Rundschau” reported first.
