Duisburg (dpa / lnw) – The owner of the burned-out car, which was discovered in Duisburg with a charred body in the driver’s seat, is a 40-year-old from Duisburg. This was announced by a police spokeswoman on Thursday on request. Whether the body is the remains of the 40-year-old is now being examined with the help of a comparison of the DNA of the man’s relatives. Results should be available by the end of next week.

Near the Duisburg water ski facility, a walker came across a puzzling scenario at Christmas: a few meters from the burnt-out wreck with the corpse was a second car that had obviously collided head-on with a tree. Both cars belong to the 40-year-old, who has not yet been available for the homicide squad.

A traffic accident team is busy evaluating the conspicuous tire marks found at the scene. In addition, an appraiser should examine the cars. The event must have happened on the night of Christmas Day.

The police are still looking for witnesses who saw the vehicle fire or made other suspicious observations, such as conspicuous cars. There is no residential development at the site. It is also a dead end.
