Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia has continued to decrease slightly. On Thursday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 350.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for NRW. It was 357.1 on Wednesday, up from 397.5 a week ago.
However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
According to the RKI information from Thursday, there were 12,644 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. During this period, 27 deaths were added. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 26,918 people have died in connection with Covid-19 in the most populous federal state.
