Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia continues to decline. On Thursday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) entered the value as 548.1. On Wednesday the number of new corona infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants was 578.5, on Thursday a week ago it was 642.2.

Within 24 hours, 21,391 confirmed new cases and 36 deaths related to the corona virus were added in NRW.

The RKI reported the highest incidences within NRW on Thursday for the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein (766.2) and Minden-Lünnecke (761.5). The values ??were lowest in the city of Duisburg (363.5) and in the district of Olpe (349.3).

However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for a long time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
