Magdeburg/Brussels (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff has demanded clear signals from the EU in view of the high energy prices. In a conversation with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels, he warned that things had to be done quickly, said the CDU politician “MDR-Aktuell” on Thursday. The signals are necessary in order to be able to put together aid packages together with the federal government in the Prime Ministers’ Conference next week.
“The federal states must know which gaps they still have to close via the state budgets,” stressed Haseloff. It is important that there is a European solution to the question of affordable energy. He is sure that the head of the EU Commission, von der Leyen, will do everything in his power to reach an agreement quickly.
