Wermelskirchen (dpa / lnw) – Without the two left tires on the car, a drunk apparently drove several kilometers on the Autobahn 1 between the Remscheid and Wermelskirchen junctions in the Bergisches Land. The vehicle was missing both the rubber tires and the rims at the front and rear left, said a police spokesman on Sunday. Witnesses discovered the badly damaged car in Wermelskirchen during the night. Officers found the 34-year-old driver drunk and ordered a breathalyzer and blood sample. The man had to give up his driver’s license. The driver probably lost both of his vehicle’s tires in a hard collision with a curb or something similar and then only continued to drive on the brake discs, it said. According to the spokesman, he left scratch marks on the highway.
