A 27-year-old man from Dortmund is said to have strangled his ex-girlfriend, who was ten years his junior, and later burned the body on a green space in Hamm. The defendant is silent on the allegations.
Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – The trial of the violent death of a 17-year-old teenager from Iserlohn has begun in front of the Dortmund district court. The body was found on a green space in Hamm at the end of June, ten days after the student’s disappearance. She had previously been doused with fire accelerant and set on fire. Prosecutors have charged the youth’s ex-boyfriend with manslaughter. According to the indictment, the 27-year-old strangled the student with a cable tie and an electric cable.
The 17-year-old had not returned to her parents’ house in Iserlohn on June 14 from a walk with her dog. The prosecution assumes that during the walk she met the defendant, from whom she had separated a few days earlier. It is unclear exactly when the young person died and what happened in the days before the body was found.
The accused has not commented on the allegations since his arrest. The 27-year-old also wanted to remain silent in the process, his two defense attorneys said on Tuesday.
