Lienen (dpa / lnw) – A week after a fatal knife attack in Lienen in the Steinfurt district, the police discovered the alleged murder weapon. When searching around the crime scene, the investigators found a kitchen knife with a 15-centimetre-long blade in a green area, according to a statement on Wednesday. The forensic technology must now check whether it is the murder weapon.

The search continues for a 45-year-old suspect who is said to have stabbed a 55-year-old at the train station in Lienen a week ago. The police are looking for the Syrian with an arrest warrant for manslaughter.

His car was secured on Friday evening at the train station in neighboring Lengerich after a witness recognized the car. According to initial investigations, there have been several arguments between the two men in the past.
