Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The FDP in North Rhine-Westphalia is calling for the broadcasting fee to be halved by 2027 and for ARD and ZDF to be combined into one nationwide program. Germany makes by far the highest contribution in Europe, criticized the head of the FDP parliamentary group, Henning Höne, on Wednesday in Düsseldorf. The mandate of public service broadcasting is not carte blanche for an ever-expanding range of programs.

The FDP politician demanded that the focus should be on information, education and culture. The proportion of game shows or quiz programs, on the other hand, should decrease. Radio waves with a comparable music focus could also be merged in radio broadcasting in order to avoid “unnecessary parallel offers”.

From the point of view of the Free Democrats, it would also be advisable to have “uniform, transparent salary bands for all permanent employees and freelancers”. Intendant salaries should be limited to around 15,000 euros per month.
