Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – In the trial against five suspected members of a terrorist cell of the so-called Islamic State in Germany, the Higher Regional Court wants to announce the verdict today (9:30 a.m.). According to the indictment, the 25 to 34-year-old men were to kill an Islam critic living in Neuss and a businessman in Albania. Five Tajik nationals are accused who lived in Essen, Neuss, Kreuztal, Selfkant and Siegen (all in North Rhine-Westphalia) until they were arrested.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has demanded prison sentences of between four and twelve years for the accused. A suspected IS terrorist from the terrorist cell was sentenced to seven years in prison last year. The trial of the five accused began a year ago.
