Cologne (dpa / lnw) – Striker Florian Dietz has signed a license player contract with 1. FC Köln. The 23-year-old’s new contract is valid until 2025, as the Rhenish Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday. Dietz, who already played in the 3rd division with FC Carl Zeiss Jena and SpVgg Unterhaching, has been with the Cologne team since 2020. At FC he has been used as a second substitute in the Regionalliga West. Last season he scored 13 goals in 18 games.

“His professional attitude and the absolute will to develop further distinguish him. That’s why he gets the chance to present himself to Steffen Baumgart and his coaching team in the upcoming preparation,” said Cologne’s sporting director for the licensed players department Thomas Kessler. “A perspective possible scenario would also be a loan, which can offer him match practice at the highest possible level.”
