Viersen (dpa / lnw) – A man died in an apartment fire in Viersen. The fire brigade was called to the fire on Saturday evening with the information that there were still people in the building, as the city of Viersen announced on Sunday night. When rescuers arrived at the house, they saw flames in a ground floor apartment. A missing person was found lifeless shortly afterwards, but any help came too late for the victim. At the same time, the firefighters checked the apartment on the upper floor with the help of a turntable ladder, but there were no other people in the building. The fire could be extinguished, the fire apartment is uninhabitable for the time being. The authorities were initially unable to give any further details about the victim or the cause of the fire.
