Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) – A 44-year-old man was critically injured in Mönchengladbach. A homicide squad has taken over the investigation. A witness found the man with stab wounds on the street and dialed the emergency call, the public prosecutor and police in Mönchengladbach announced on Thursday. The injuries were inflicted on him with a pointed object early Wednesday morning. The 44-year-old is now out of danger.
The witness was initially arrested. However, since the suspicion against him was not confirmed, the man was released on Thursday, according to the announcement. In addition, the investigators were able to take descriptions of the perpetrators and find clothing and the alleged murder weapon. The previously unknown perpetrator may have been accompanied by two other men, the statement said. The police are now looking for witnesses to the attack.
