Velbert (dpa / lnw) – A man was run over in Velbert by his van rolling away. Despite attempts to revive him, the 47-year-old man succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident, the police said on Monday. He had tried to stop the car.
According to the investigation, the driver parked the car on the side of a sloping road on Sunday, but probably did not tighten the handbrake. The pickup truck then started moving and rolled about ten meters down the street. The man was run over when trying to stop the car. The car then crashed into a lamppost. A witness alerted the rescue workers and provided first aid until they arrived.
