The annual comparison of the taxpayers’ association of waste and sewage fees in NRW is informative for many citizens: the price ranges are huge and the most expensive municipalities have to shell out about five times as much as the cheapest.
Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The taxpayers’ association will present its annual comparison of waste and sewage fees in North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday (10 a.m.) in Düsseldorf. In recent years, statistics have revealed huge cost differences. Accordingly, about five times more has to be shelled out in the most expensive municipalities than in the cheapest ones. However, the Association of Towns and Municipalities and the Association of Municipal Companies do not consider the fee comparisons to be reliable due to the different local conditions.
The most recent ruling by the Münster Higher Administrative Court on excessive calculations for sewage fees is also likely to play a role this year. The taxpayers’ association had supported a successful lawsuit in the test case against the city of Oer-Erkenschwick. Across the country, the verdict has raised many question marks in municipal offices and among citizens who now want to know whether they will receive repayments.
