Ibbenbüren (dpa / lnw) – The police stopped a truck driver at a rest area on the Autobahn 30 near Ibbenbüren in Münsterland, who was transporting heavy metal beams and dangerous goods without proper security. The 48-year-old transported a 21-ton metal carrier on a damaged, “self-cobbled wooden structure,” as the police in Münster announced on Wednesday. In the event of an emergency stop, the carrier could have slipped into the dangerous goods stored in front of it. According to the police, a deflagration, explosion or a toxic cloud could have occurred because the dangerous goods were toxic and highly flammable. The driver was not allowed to continue driving, and a fine was initiated. The semi-trailer was noticed during an inspection.
