Mülheim an der Ruhr (dpa/lnw) – Six people were injured in an accident on Autobahn 40 on Christmas Eve. Several of them suffered serious injuries, including a child, as the fire department in Mülheim an der Ruhr announced in the evening. According to the information, five vehicles were involved between the Essen-Frohnhausen and Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum junctions in Mülheim an der Ruhr in the afternoon. The cars collided, but the course of the accident is still unclear.
Several ambulances, emergency doctors and a rescue helicopter were deployed. According to the fire department, five other people were cared for on site, but did not have to go to the hospital. The Autobahn was closed in the direction of Duisburg during the rescue and clean-up work. There were significant traffic delays.
