Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – The Champions League game won by Borussia Dortmund against Chelsea also had a literally vital happy ending for a football fan. On the way home to Bochum, the 57-year-old driver suffered a medical emergency at the wheel, as reported by the Dortmund police on Friday. “It was only thanks to the courageous intervention of three police officers who arrived quickly that the man’s life could be saved.”
The 20-year-old passenger had made an emergency call after her stepfather’s circulatory system failed while driving just before midnight. Although the man lost consciousness, the car came to a standstill without an accident, the police reported.
After rescue workers were able to revive the man and take him to the hospital, there was great praise, according to the police report. The senior cardiologist praised the quick life-saving action of everyone involved as a “definition of perfect cooperation” and stated: “Even if I come out as a BVB fan: The saying ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ has become the most beautiful here way proved true.”
