Controversy in the streets of Pamplona. The citizen association FamiLiaE has denounced an advertising campaign by the Government of Navarra for considering that it has a “high sexual content.”
The campaign, which is displayed on advertising displays of the Pamplona electric bicycle network, is aimed at raising awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
To do this, advertising shows semi-naked bodies or kisses with tongue to warn of possible infections of chlamydia, gonorrhea or HIV.
For the association, the campaign stands out for its “high sexual content visible to everyone, including children”, with “explicit sexual images not suitable for minors”, says Familiae in a press release.
The organization understands that “showing scenes of explicit sex promotes promiscuity and thus the increase in infections, which is precisely the opposite of what the campaign seeks.”
For this reason, they demand that the authorities withdraw this campaign and replace it with another that is more in line with what was advertised, electric bikes, and that “cannot affect the development and emotional sexual maturation of children, whom we must protect.”
According to Diario de Navarra, the Pamplona City Council had received “at least twenty complaints” about the advertising in recent days. However, the council has pointed out that the supports are not municipal property and have urged citizens to contact the Government of Navarra directly.
