While downtown Portland may be sitting at a cool 38 degrees Tuesday morning, areas of Washington and Yamhill counties have seen numerous crashes prior to 6:30 a.m. due to icy conditions. Temperatures in those areas are hovering right at freezing.
The Gaston school district reports icy driving conditions and advises caution. A crash on Highway 99W south of Dundee caused a 2-mile backup northbound. A pre-6:30 a.m. crash on Southwest Scholls Ferry at Tile Flat Road was caused by slick conditions.
Take care if you’re traveling in these areas through Tuesday morning. Temperatures should begin to warm after sunrise.
Reminder: The Oregon Department of Transportation has closed OR 224 at Tong Road due to needed emergency landslide repairs.
Detours include westbound traffic directed onto Southeast 232nd Drive. Eastbound traffic will be funneled onto Southeast Tong Road. Truck traffic is instructed to use OR 212.
The closure is expected to take several weeks.
TriMet closed the Gresham City Hall MAX station Sunday for a six-week remodeling project. Park and ride users should use the Gresham Central Transit Center stop, one stop east of City Hall.
