Success is at the rendezvous of the “Macron bonus”, renamed since July 2022 “value sharing bonus (PPV)”. According to Gabriel Attal, whose remarks were reported by RTL journalists, 4.4 billion euros were paid under this bonus in 2022. This is 50% more than in 2021. In detail, this concerns 5.5 million employees in 460,000 companies for an average amount of 800 euros. “Our conviction is that profit is not only for the bosses or the shareholders, it must also be for the employees”, underlined the Minister of Public Accounts.

The value sharing bonus (PPV) was introduced in 2019 to allow companies to redistribute their profits with their employees by being exempt from any social, employer and employee contributions, if they have set up a system of profit-sharing or participation. Between 2021 and 2022, the ceiling for this bonus was multiplied by three to reach 3,000 to 6,000 euros depending on the company. However, companies are under no obligation to pay this premium.
