Sanford police on Thursday arrested one of their own, Jason Bunch, on charges he filled out false time sheets for the city and on moonlighting jobs.
Bunch, 34, of Orlando, a four-year department veteran, was being held in the Seminole County Jail on $300,000 bond.
He’s accused of cheating the city and private companies out of a combined $8,000.
According to the Sanford Police Department, he falsified 99 records, including vendor forms, computer event screens and time sheets.
Sometimes, according to the agency, he double-dipped, reporting he was on the job for the city while he also reported he was on the clock, handling security for a private contractor.
He also sometimes simply went home in the middle of a shift and reported that he had worked a full day, the department said.
Bunch was placed on paid leave in November, when the agency began its investigation. He resigned Monday.
A woman who answered a phone listed to his wife would not comment Thursday evening.
